What are the results of Facet Joint Injections? After a facet joint injection, patients may feel immediate back or neck pain relief due to the anesthetic used during the procedure. However, as this anesthetic wears off after the procedure, the pain may return. The steroid from a successful injection will gradually reduce facet joint inflammation and pain over the next few days. Results can differ for each patient, but facet joint injections may provide relief from back/neck pain and inflammation for a time frame ranging from several days to several months. If needed, patients may receive up to three facet joint injections per year.
